“Convivial” comes from the Latin words for “living together,” but it usually refers to gathering together with friends and family to share a special meal. Food brings us together—so let’s celebrate it!

This blog was started as a way to share food and recipes inspired by travel, history, and art, with readers and fellow “foodies.” Recreating recipes from history and from other cultures is one way that we can connect with the past and understand others. Not only that, but it brings back memories from travelling the world and tasting new foods and flavour combinations! I have always had a passion for food, and I have been cooking and baking since I was a child helping my mother in the kitchen. After several years of working for the government, I realized that I didn’t want to spend my life working in a political sphere, I wanted to instead pursue what I love—food and history, and sharing ideas with others.

As a true millennial, I am passionate about quality, sustainable ingredients that come from local farmers and food producers. I am equally drawn to flavours inspired by travelling the world, and exploring food traditions from the past. From preserves to kimchi, bread to tajines to pasta, I love to cook and prepare food for friends and family.
